I have long loved the book sections of the newspaper. It is the reason I buy papers. I come for the books, stay for the rest. Now that there is downsizing of this section throughout the country, one man is doing something.  By relating his tale, he shows that there might be another great novelist or writer in the wings that will not be found without the reviewer.

Those were the chilling words Christopher Hitchens ends his current Vanity Fair column on the Islamifaction of London. This is an important look into the mind and words of those that are changing not just Britian, but Europe as a whole. Much like Steyn’s great book America Alone, this article points out just how the European left is aiding their own downfall.

Hitchens asks how a community can go from a Fish and chips to jihad in a generation. How the Prince Charles is aiding and why London is now a meeting spot for international terrorism. It is not a hard question. Through the misuse and misthought out concepts of multi-culturalism we are killing ourselves. Assimilation is no longer practiced and is mostly discouraged which forces societal ills to be passed through generations and those generations feel no love or patriotism towards their country. It looks to be an interesting future…

Mark Steyn is the greatest current essayist working today. His witty and charming style is apparent in every word that he prints and that is so true of this collection of Obituaries that are collect here for the first time. Steyn had long been a writer of the dead for the once great The Atlantic Monthly leaving recently over an undisclosed dispute (but to be fair the mag has hired some nutters as of late). His obits were must reading and now you can read them all.

The book can be purchased at steynonline.com or Amazon.com. It is well worth the price for a better collection of writings would be hard to find. These columns show that obituaries can be an art form unto themselves. And his training on Fleet Street is evident in the exciting style of prose that enlivens such stories. Showing why he is one of the best writers around, Hitchens destroys Tenet in this essay. I had earlier written my response, but again I fill like Tenent is a creep and maybe even the most inept man to ever lead the C.I.A.
